Why We’re Excited About Crypto

First and foremost, of course, we launched a platform to make it easy to gain serious access to crypto. And since then, we’ve been steadily adding new features, launching new portfolios. Since our private launch last year, we have been giving our private clients access to invest in what they think is interesting. Just this month, we launched publicly. Which means that instead of only being available to a few folks, we are now ready to take anyone beyond digital asset investing. And meanwhile we’ve doubled down on education about crypto, too. We will be publishing an ongoing glossary of crypto terms, explainers and articles about responsible investing.

A fair question is: why are we doing all this? And some think the fair answer would be: oh, crypto is trendy, and they want to make a bunch of money. And sure, we’re a business that makes money when people use our platforms. But the reason we’ve gone big on crypto is that we think it’s incredibly promising.

We’re really excited about crypto.

Why? Well, foremost, ComiBlock was founded specifically to democratize access serious to crypto investing. Our domain expertise has always been and always will be solely focused on crypto. We're not just another financial platform hopping on the crypto bandwagon, we see things differently and more responsibly.

We spend a lot of time working on ironing out our technology/compliance, and thinking about all this in general, and we’re in large part run by native product focused folks. And from the evidence we have accumulated in the last decade or so, we think crypto has the potential to be the most exciting technology in the next generation.

But if it has to be that, there is a need for a responsible investing culture and products to be built to better protect retail from the toxic investing culture flying within this space.

Despite the explosive returns to date, crypto is not an easy asset class to understand and invest in, which is why we believe the ComiBlock model of managed access can add tremendous value. The crypto space is rife with speculation across crypto assets with risk such as questionable fundamental utility, minimal adoption, opaque security features, and low liquidity, to name a few. Crypto-assets are a new digital asset class built on blockchain technology enabled by novel computer science and mathematics, which allow us to reimagine the nature of trust in markets. Unlike fiat, crypto-assets do not require trust in an existing institution, cannot be inflated away, cannot be easily seized, and are not mediated by an existing country or government. Instead, cryptocurrencies simply require trust in software and mathematics.

While trust in existing financial markets and fiat currencies is collapsing, trust in cryptographic systems is increasing rapidly. These cryptographic systems are unlocking use cases that were previously impractical, such as novel monetary stores of value, smart contracts, private transactions, and a lot more. Adoption of cryptocurrencies and blockchain protocols is exploding, and we expect this trend to prove structural and long-term in nature, driving significant returns for crypto investors. As the instability of “old money” grows, an increasing number of people and institutions are willing to consider “new money” alternatives.

As they realize the utility of Bitcoin and other crypto assets, come to trust in the underlying software, and consider the risk/reward attractive, we see an ever-increasing likelihood that Bitcoin and other crypto assets achieve broad adoption and value accrual.
